Private paid family leave plans

In January 2023, the CO FAMLI program began for all CO employees, providing monetary benefits for leave due to medical reasons, sickness, maternity, or taking care of a loved one. Both employees and employers fund the program through payroll deductions.

Many of our clients have realized that having a private leave plan (PFML) instead of the state FAMLI plan can save them and their employees significant premiums. Depending on the employer, private leave plans can be half the cost of the state plan, with the exact same benefits. This is worth considering if you have more than 10 CO employees on payroll.
